Thank you so much for this piece, Kate! I really appreciate you sharing your story with the publishing process being so slow, and savoring your kids. Beautiful. -- "things happen very slowly in the publishing world and, though it’s often a very discouraging process, things *do* happen if you believe in your work and DO NOT GIVE UP."

I LOVE this!! I am right there with you on the nostalgia and the feeling of time sleeping through my fingers. I also love what you write about finding wisdom in your younger self, how those words you wrote previously now serve you in a new way. They are like putting on a pair of glasses and being able to see clearly. Thanks for the reminder that publishing is slow! Am practicing the patience muscle :-)

Congrats to both girls! Lately, I'm mostly in awe that I made it through early parenthood at all :) And looking back I am in awe at all that got done during those years--two cool people the icing on the cake of course!

Right, Shana? The writing of books and teaching and living. You rock! And thank you! And I'm so excited for your future Smithie!

Lovely reflection, Kate! I'm being hit hard by the nostalgia bug as well--our kiddo is also graduating from H.S. in less than a week. Every time I pass a playground where he used to play, I get teary... the emotions are definitely churning.

Exactly, Pam! I'm trying to just ride with them, but they are all over the place! Congrats to your family!
